LG Pra.L Superform Thermashot Ultimate: A Korean YouTuber’s Review (Part 3)

This is Part 3 of our three-part translation of a Korean beauty YouTuber’s test of 46 at-home beauty devices. Part 1 covers HIFU, RF and LDM devices and Part 2 covers EMS and microcurrent devices. For the technology itself, see our HIFU vs RF vs EMS vs microcurrent comparison.

The Device I Think Is the Strongest, but I Do Not Run Japanese Group Buys 17:27–18:10

The one I think is the strongest is NBS MetaLT. The RF gets properly warm, and it also has EMS, electroporation, and microcurrent. It earns its price, but that price is KRW 1.6 million. It is genuinely too expensive to recommend casually. I am friends with the owner, and he messaged me that there had been a lot of Korean inquiries after my video. But I once got hit with KRW 30 million in customs duties while running a Japanese underwear group buy. So I do not run group buys for Japanese products. Please understand that, and let us move on.

(From this point on, as mentioned, the scenes include LG Pra.L advertising. Please keep that in mind while watching.)

From Here, This Is an LG Pra.L Ad: the Superform Thermashot Ultimate 18:10–22:39

To cut to the chase, it is a new LG Pra.L device. Throughout the time I have been seriously obsessed with device reviews, Pra.L has had a lot of my favorites. But a KRW 800,000 device and even devices over KRW 1 million were discontinued. Once cartridge sales stopped too, my machines became terminal cases. Then they came out with a galvanic device, so I complained a lot and told them to get it together. (To be fair, she had consistently praised Pra.L devices and expressed disappointment when they were discontinued, even in earlier videos that were not sponsored.) After seeing that video, LG contacted me and asked whether I wanted to try the new device. A complaint is a complaint, but if you are sending it, thank you. I tried it, and my reaction changed. This could really change the game.

It is called the LG Pra.L Superform Thermashot Ultimate. It combines four technologies: RF, microcurrent, electroporation, and EMS. Each mode has five levels, so it seems to cover everyone from beginners at levels 1–2 to a Pikachu like me at level 5. GLOW is for glow, FIRM for firmness, JAW for a double chin, PORE for pores, and EYE for targeted-area care.

I used it with the accompanying Glasslike product. It did not dry out quickly while I was using the device, so there was less drag and it suited me. It is about the size of the old Pra.L handle and comes with a cap. That matters to me too. The curved head is especially smooth. With many RF devices, skincare gets stuck between raised sections and cleaning becomes annoying. With this one, you just wipe it once and you are done. Having made cosmetic packaging myself, I know how difficult it is to remove every awkward step between a cap and the body. Seeing this clean finish made me think: yes, this is Pra.L being Pra.L when it comes to usability.

It only operates when it is properly in contact with the skin, and it has a temperature sensor. You can enter your skin concerns in the app, and it tells you which mode to use and where. Then it even connects through Bluetooth. It gives voice guidance for areas like the cheeks and forehead.

FIRM and GLOW modes: RF, electroporation and a thermal-camera test 22:39–26:35

FIRM is the mode that uses RF, and the light turns red. It says it uses 16-pole radiofrequency, and I was curious about how much of that technology was actually delivered, so I filmed it with a thermal camera as soon as I received it. The temperature rose, but it did not feel overheated to me, which was interesting. The brand material cites figures such as 131% for collagen and 660% for elastin, and the numbers were so dramatic that they surprised me at first. But as mentioned later, those results were measured with Glasslike used together. They are not presented as device-only results. GLOW, the mode I use most, runs RF and electroporation at the same time. It handles firmness and delivery in one go, which is great because it saves time. You do not have to keep switching between devices. For FIRM mode, I apply a PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) firming ampoule serum. I am used to RF, so I go straight to level 5. My face is red right afterward, but what I like is the clearer look the next day. On the thermal image, heat seemed to spread broadly and evenly across one side of my face, which impressed me. The head also fits nicely into narrow spots such as between the brows. It feels as capable as many dedicated RF devices, yet it includes other electrical-stimulation functions too, so I am happy to see this kind of configuration at this price point. I am still sad that they discontinued Dermathera, but they made this one well, so I will let them off. As if I am the one who gets to decide that.

PORE and JAW modes 26:35–29:55

PORE is for areas where pores bother you, such as the front cheeks, butterfly zone, nose, and forehead. I use levels 4–5 on my cheeks and lower it to 2–3 on my nose. The skin around my nose seems more sensitive to microcurrent. PORE is apparently popular not only with me but with people on the Pra.L team too. To describe the feeling, it is not the kind that makes the muscles move dramatically like EMS. It is more like tapping with a wooden chopstick: tap, tap, tap. It sounds funny when I explain it, but that is honestly what it feels like. JAW is a jawline mode that runs RF and EMS together. I am a “left-side keeper,” meaning the Korean kind of person whose left side photographs better. Looking straight ahead, the facial fullness on the other side seems to sit a little lower, and it bothers me. That does not mean this device corrects facial asymmetry. It is a double-chin-care mode, so I simply give the side that bothers me more attention. I apply the PDRN firming serum and use level 5, once over the whole face and once around the right double-chin area. Even two passes take less than five minutes. I also use it over my whole face because it seems to help with puffiness. This device’s EMS is not sharply zingy like the stronger devices I own. It is more of a soft flutter. Still, I think this level is fine for facial skin. It is even better because it comes with RF. Since I feel the asymmetry is more about facial fullness than bone structure, I use it hoping it might improve a little.

Final verdict on the LG Pra.L 29:55–31:04

My conclusion is that it offers good time-to-satisfaction value. I even feel lucky to live in an era when we can use devices like this at home. But I will repeat this: do not use any device over the vocal-cord area. I actually brought every discontinued device with me to the LG meeting. I asked why they had discontinued products I had used so well. Then they said they had made the new one well, and I had to admit, fair enough. It does not erase my disappointment over the discontinuations, but it means I liked this product that much.
